Missions Supported
Neptec Design Group produces electro-optical and electro-mechanical systems for mission critical space applications. Neptec has contributed critical systems to some of the most demanding space exploration missions and has a proven history of making things work in challenging environments.
Neptec has provided solutions for agencies and commercial space companies including the Canadian Space Agency (CSA), the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), the European Space Agency (ESA), Orbital ATK, the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) and the Canadian Department of National Defence.
NEPTEC IN A BOX
New Set of Eyes for the ISS - CSA
Neptec is designing a state-of-the-art vision sensor suite for the International Space Station (ISS). This exceptional vision system is comprised of three different types of sensors working together to generate unique imagery: a high resolution 3D LiDAR, a thermal night vision camera and a high resolution video camera.
ExoMars Mars Mission - ESA
ExoMars is a European Space Agency (ESA) Programme that will explore the surface and sub-surface of Mars in 2020. Neptec has been contracted to develop and deliver the ExoMars Cameras (EXMC).
NAVIGATION IN HARSH ENVIRONMENTS
DOCKING WITHOUT TARGETS
ISS Resupply - Orbital ATK
Orbital ATK cargo resupply missions provide supplies to the International Space Station (ISS). Neptec’s TriDAR Automated Rendezvous and Docking sensor allows the Cygnus Service Module to approach the station and position itself for capture by the station’s robotic arm.
International Space Station Assembly - NASA
Neptec’s Space Vision System (SVS) was used to provide real-time, precise visual and numerical alignment and positioning cues to the Space Shuttle and International Space Station (ISS) crews when installing new modules during the assembly of the space station.

Orbital ATK cargo resupply missions provide supplies to the International Space Station (ISS). Neptec’s TriDAR Automated Rendezvous and Docking sensor allows the Cygnus Service Module to approach the station and position itself for capture by the station’s robotic arm.
Exomars Mars Mission - ESA
ExoMars is a European Space Agency (ESA) Programme that will explore the surface and sub-surface of Mars in 2020. Neptec has been contracted to develop and deliver the ExoMars Cameras (EXMC).

LANDING SENSORS
Luna Resource-1 Lander - ESA
Scheduled to launch in 2021, the “Luna Resource-1 Lander” is an unmanned mission to the Moon – The first in a series of launches that could see the first habitat on the Moon. Neptec’s LEIA (LIDAR for Extra- terrestrial Imaging Applications) will be used as a landing sensor
PROBA Missions - ESA
PROBA is a series of satellite missions by the ESA, PROBA-3 will study the Sun’s corona. Neptec’s Fine Lateral and Longitudinal Sensor (FLLS) is responsible for accurately measuring the relative position of two satellites in order to keep them in a tight flying formation so they are effectively joined together, even though there is no physical connection.
SITUATIONAL AWARENESS
ON-ORBIT INSPECTION AND DAMAGE ASSESSMENT
On Orbit Spacecraft Inspection - NASA
After 2003 Neptec’s Laser Camera System was made a mandatory safety system on every NASA shuttle mission. Its role was to scan the shuttle’s thermal protection system to perform damage inspection, and facilitate clearance of the shuttle for landing.
International Space Station Assembly - NASA
Neptec’s Space Vision System (SVS) was used to provide real-time, precise visual and numerical alignment and positioning cues to the Space Shuttle and International Space Station (ISS) crews when installing new modules during the assembly of the space station.
PRECISION ASSEMBLY IN SPACE
Neptec specializes in the development, production, integration, operation and support of intelligent spaceflight sensors, payloads, instruments and equipment.
